Terroir
The 2020 vintage is in line with the fine 2018 and 2019 vintages in terms of quality. At Château Michel de Montaigne we have been able to achieve the balance between fruit, acidity and alcohol, thanks in part to balanced weather conditions throughout the growing season.
Vinification
Oak barrels add quite discreet woody notes and completely changes this wine, which have the festive and joyful side of a mellow wine but with the framing and structure of a Bordeaux. Also, it gives a sweeter feeling in the mouth despite its sugar level equivalent to that in stainless steel vats.
Tasting
The color is a deep gold, with aromas of candied fruits on the nose, mixed with white flowers, as well as some discreet notes of wood which bring a beautiful complexity.
A nice balance on the palate, the discreet woodiness of the tannins brings back more liveliness, than on the softness of Montaigne and allows it to have a very pleasant lively and soft mouthfeel.
The finish is very long with notes of fruit and wood.
